Beat the Plastic Habit with Bags of Change
Fed up with
plastic? Carrier bags crowding your kitchen? Loyalty cards leading you astray?
Bags of Change just might have the answer.
Making a stir
across
and spreading nationally, Bags of Change is a loyalty scheme with a difference:
instead of a plastic card, shoppers get a stylish and sustainable organic hemp-cotton bag that awards
them discounts on local, fair-trade and organic goods at
participating independent stores.
As the London Councils organisation proposes a plastic bag levy in
Bags of Change is offering an environmentally friendly and ethical alternative.
By buying – and using – a Bag of Change, independently minded consumers are
making significant and lasting changes to their shopping habits: refusing
plastic bags; buying more sustainable goods; and supporting our small, local,
independent stores.
“The more shoppers use our bags the more they save, so there’s a strong
incentive to carry the bag and to shop ethically,” says Faith Simpson,
Bags of Change partner.
One of the pioneer retailers of the bag is
Teresa Owen of Fairwind in Crouch End (Farirwindonline.com). Teresa sells fair
trade gifts and furniture and offers a 10% discount to all customers who shop
with a Bag of Change: “Bags of Change is working really well for us. Customers
are buying the bag – and coming back to take advantage of the discount. It’s a
great campaign.”
Looking for an easier, cheaper and ethical alternative to plastic carrier
bags and supermarket shopping? With Bags of Change, it’s all in the bag!

These bags are great! They have a beautiful pattern, the organic hemp-cotton mix makes them really strong but soft. I’ve got the new green one and i just love it!
On top of this you get discounts in ethical shops when you shop with the bag!
