Ecotopia Introduces The Eco Gift Of The Year 2007!
Brighten up someone’s day with this year’s
most desirable Eco Gift, the Sun Jar Solar Light, available now from online
ethical retailer, Ecotopia.co.uk.
Collecting and storing sunshine, the Sun
Jar uses UV rays harvested during exposure to sunlight to emit a warming glow
in the dark. Made with a traditional Mason jar and high tech energy efficient
lighting, the jar conceals a highly efficient solar cell, rechargeable battery
and low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in sunlight, the solar cell
creates an electrical current, charging the battery over a few hours. As
darkness falls, this energy is used to power the LED lamps, emitting a warm and
natural light.
Using a light sensor to negate the need for
a switch on the jar, there are no visible controls to ruin the aesthetics of
the solar light. A light sensor inside the jar does the work of a switch
automatically activating the sunshine-like light when it gets dark or lights
are turned out.
“Mason Jars are not only beautiful but by
their very nature they are completely water tight – so the Sun Jar can happily
be left outside in any weather conditions,” said Steve Jones, director of
Ecotopia.co.uk.
A perfect gift, the light can be used
outside in the garden, casting sunny rays over evening soirees, or as a night
light for young children.
