Surprise, surprise, some main stream medication  is no better than placebos.

There has been a lot in the media about new research on anti-depressants and how, for many people, they are no more effective than placebos.

It is very heartening to see the publicity that this reserarch has been given, because so often alternative and complementray therapies are dismissed as mere placebos. When I was working as a therapist, a doctor implied that my success was down to the placebo effect. I replied: “May be. But wouldn’t you like a placebo that was effective as this?” He didn’t have an answer.
