Steve Souders from Yahoo! blogs about Green Web Pages

Steve Souders from Yahoo! posts up a story entitled

How green is your web page?

This is the very kind of thinking we need to see more of within the industry.

I thought this would be thought provoking enough to be of interest to members that operate their own websites and are interested in creating better performance and energy savings from their own sites.

Performance Savings / Energy Usage and End User satisfaction. It is something that the web development industry and the eco/green industry need to look at and find some common ground.Web Site development and improvements can be made if you look and analyse the way the site works, not just how it looks. I woud recommend checking out the Yahoo Performance Chcklist and see if your site could do with improvement.

Making small changes, and even saving small amounts of energy is a good thing, its also saving data centre’s bandwith allowances, if spread of larger more popular sites, this can end up saving money as well as resources required to serve the pages.

Please look at these 14 rules that can make a dramatic difference to the visitors of your site.
