MuLondon announces entire range of organic products registered by The Vegan Society

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

Committing to a vegan lifestyle is usually a conscious choice for people who do not wish to exploit animals for food, clothing or cosmetics. This means that vegans do not eat animal products, do not wear clothes or accessories made from leather, wool or fur, and do not use cosmetic products with ingredients derived from the animal kingdom.

MuLondon’s 100 % natural and deliciously fragranced Organic Rose, Organic Lavender, Organic White Chocolate Truffle, Organic Hemp and Organic Marigold, Frankincense and Myrrhmoisturisers are all completely vegan and carry the official Vegan Society Trademark. They are enjoyed by customers around the world, including movie stars, proving that cruelty-free skincare products can match anything else on the market today in terms of quality.

Boris Zatezic, the founder and head cream-whipper of MuLondon, says: “I am delighted to have all MuLondon products registered as vegan. By proudly carrying the internationally recognized Sunflower logo of the Vegan Society, we are showing that the entire MuLondon skin care range is suitable for vegans. Veganism is a deliberate, conscious move towards a more compassionate way of life – cruelty-free, sustainable, clean, pure and natural. Those qualities are the building blocks of MuLondon and are reflected in everything we do as a company. Not only is the entire range vegan, but MuLondon is a 100% vegan company, and we will never use any animal-derived ingredients or ones tested on animals. Compassionate vegans, vegetarians and everyone else can now enjoy MuLondon products, knowing that they are doing something good – not only for their skin, by caring for it naturally, but for the good of the environment and animals.

The Vegan Society is a British educational charity that works to promote veganism by supporting people, organisations and companies wanting to commit to a vegan lifestyle. The Vegan Society was founded in 1944 by a group of people who were not quite satisfied with the vegetarian movement and saw the need to coordinate between those among them who had started to question the ethics of still eating eggs and dairy products.

All of MuLondon’s moisturisers are carefully and lovingly handmade and contain a unique combination of certified organic Shea Butter, Coconut Butter and Jojoba Oil, herbal extracts and essential oils that hydrate, balance and repair all types of skin, even the most sensitive.

A distinctive feature of MuLondon moisturisers is that they contain no added water. As they are not diluted, a little bit goes a long way, and the customer gets 100% active ingredients, without anything artificial at all.

More information about MuLondon can be found at www.MuLondon.com, where customers can place secure online orders, 24/7, with affordable worldwide shipping.

Launch of the UK’s first ever Eco Tweet Up

Leading thinkers in both digital communications and the environment will be coming together on Tuesday 20th September to explore whether social media could provide the answer to climate change and other environmental issues.

Known as the Eco Tweet Up, the event brings together not for profit organisations, grassroots activists, social entrepreneurs and ethical brands. The aim of the event is to explore, discuss and debate how social media can be used to generate social change around environmental issues.

Eco Tweet Up founder, Esther Freeman said: “We’ve seen some incredible social actions organised through Twitter and other digital forums. The #riotcleanup hashtag on Twitter, which mobilised thousands after the UK riots was an amazing example of this. However many organisations are still failing to harness the interactive power of this incredible new technology. Hopefully the Eco Tweet Up will provide inspiration and maybe even create a few new digital partnerships to enable us to deal with one of the biggest threats that faces humankind.”

The first Eco Tweet Up takes place from 5.30pm to 8.30pm at Eurostar’s head office. Speakers will include:

  • Do the Green Thing – a not-for-profit organisation that encourage others to lead a greener life through a worldwide online community and inspiring video content
  • Futerra Sustainability Communications – the leading sustainable communications agency who have been helping to save the world for over 10 years. Futerra are the authors of the Sizzle report, which has helped rethink the way we communicate sustainability.
  • Chris Smith, curator of Ecotube, the green equivalent of Youtube with a mission to change the world one video view at a time. Chris teaches social media to charities & NGO’s as part of this mission.

The Eco Tweet Up is free to attend. To register for tickets email info@mswandas.co.uk

Becklands Organic Farm, Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Becklands Farm is situated in rolling hills of West Dorset in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It lies within the ‘Jurassic Coast’, a designated World Heritage Geological Site because of its unique fossil deposits. We offer a double ensuite bedroom with a bath [recycled rainwater, no shower] in our thatched 17th century farmhouse. Linen and towels are all organic. Radio and WiFi but no TV in your room. A twin bedded room is also available for fellow travellers, sharing the same bathroom with the double room. The rooms are simply decorated with elm beams, slanted ceilings, patchwork bed covers, coir carpets, stone and waxed wooden floors. Organic paints throughout the house. The farm is situated in the rolling hills of West Dorset a quarter of a mile from the village of Whitchurch Canonicorum, a conservation area on the edge of the glorious Marshwood Vale. We are within easy and level walking distance of the sea [Charmouth 2.5 miles]. Becklands has been farmed organically for over forty years in an area famed for its wild flowers, narrow lanes, traditional hedges and patchwork fields. The farm boasts over a hundred different wild flowers and some forty five species of bird in addition to badgers, buzzards, wild pheasants, foxes and rabbits. Becklands is a working organic farm of twelve hectares, with a small herd of Red Ruby Devon beef cattle, geese, and laying hens. Our products are sold in local shops and from our own small farm shop. http://www.organicholidays.co.uk/at/2995.htm

Autumn Eco Design Trend – Decorating with Mauves

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

As the weather turns colder and the nights draw in warmer colours are dominating design schemes but in a new streamlined way. Take a clutter free approach with simple lines and pulled back curtains or blinds allowing as much light to flood in, thus reducing the amount of electric light needed.

Bring in the feel of nature with beautiful wood grain- FSC of course! -  and chalky paint, then add the strong colours and textures of warm fabrics and soft furnishings, rugs and cushions for a cosy autumn feel.

For inspiration check out some of the Gecco Interiors range:

Keen2learn Launches New Educational Games for Maths

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Keen2learn has just added two great new Numenko educational games for maths to their range. Children are still reluctant to learn maths but these fun games which can be played in school and at home by two – six players follows keen2learn message about “learning in disguise”.  Playing a game is so much more fun than doing exercises or reading a text book. And you learn whilst you play using the rules of the games.

A sound foundation in numeracy is essential to allow children to progress in maths and if this learning can be made to be fun the desire to learn can be accelerated through practice.

The UK is still failing in maths. Although the recent round of improved GCSE results were an improvement on last year there is a hidden concern. Maths, science and engineering are in decline replaced by a trend for children to take easier subjects in order to gain a better score and exam points. Our heritage is at stake, as our inventiveness will decline without a sound grounding in maths and more children than ever are dropping maths after they are 16 years old.

Many children find maths difficult because they can’t see the fun that can be had by playing maths games. Numenko is a board game using wooden tile to form maths answers in a crossword fashion similar to Scrabble. Addition, subtraction, division and multiplication form the answers on the board with the score being the answer to the statement. 6 x 2 =12 gives the player a score of twelve. The simplicity of the game makes it possible to for children of different ages to play. A second version of the game –Numenko in a Bag does away with the board to let children play anywhere – the winner is the first to use all their tiles.

Seeing how easy maths can become through playing Numenko will help children to break down any fear about maths which helps to build their confidence and develop a deep seated interest in numeracy.

Give your Skin a Boost with Natural Skin Care

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Natural Skin CareYour face is so important; it’s what everybody sees when they form a first impression of you.  Beautiful skin shows that you care about presentation and your appearance and gives you confidence, so the products you use need to be special, just like you are.  Natural skin care looks after your skin, letting its innate radiance shine through.

These days many of us are turning to an organic diet because we want the best and purest nutrition for our bodies so using natural skin care products is the obvious choice for skin.  Think about it: you avoid dangerous chemicals and additives in your food, so it makes sense to do the same when selecting your skin care.

Using natural skin care means that you are not polluting your skin with chemicals that could damage it, because the ingredients in natural skin care are healthy, used not by companies for their low prices, but because they are best for your skin.  Did you know the up to 60% of anything you put on your skin can be absorbed by it?  That’s why it’s vitally important to check the labels and be sure you’re happy with what you’re using on your skin – the body’s largest organ.

A great natural skin care routine, including the key elements of cleanser, toner and moisturiser, means you will have a healthy, glowing complexion, with skin that’s ready for anything!  You might think people with great looking skin are lucky but the chances are they care for it with natural skin care.  Why not become one of the lucky ones too!

The next time you think about skin care, remember to think of it as what it is: food for your skin.  Make sure you are happy with what you’re feeding your skin and always choose a healthy, natural product to give your skin the care it needs.

Make a Will; Make a Difference with Will Aid this November

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Do you need to make or update a Will?

Many of us know we should write a Will but somehow we manage to put it off. Now is the perfect time to take action and make a difference to loved ones in the future. At the same time, you can give a donation to the Will Aid charities to help many thousands of children, families, older people and whole communities in the UK and around the world to build a better life.

Will Aid is the UK’s most enduring and successful charity Will-making scheme. It runs for the month of November 2011. The scheme offers the chance to have a basic Will drawn up by a professional solicitor and give to charity instead of paying the solicitor’s usual fee. The suggested donation is £85 for a single Will, £125 for mirror Wills or £40 for a codicil or change to a previous Will.

There are more than 1,300 generous solicitors all over the UK waiting to take your appointment.  Their contact details are now available at http://www.willaid.org.uk/will-makers/find-solicitor or from the hotline 0300 0300 013. Please book early because Will Aid solicitors can fill their available appointments very quickly.

The website http://www.willaid.org.uk/ has a good deal of information on Wills and inheritance issues as well as a useful Will planner to help prepare your Will.

Make a Will and make a real difference today. By giving generously to reflect the solicitor’s time and expertise, you can help us beat last year’s fantastic total of over £1.5 million raised for the Will Aid charities.
