Thursday, November 5th, 2009A major on-line advertising campaign to promote the UK’s biggest ever demonstration for urgent action on climate change is launched today (5 November) by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition, with support from The Co-operative.
To coincide with the start of the crucial United Nations Climate Change Summit being held in Copenhagen, The Wave is being organised by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition of more than 100 charities, from the Women’s Institute and RSPB to Oxfam and Unison. on Saturday 5 December.
The high profile campaign is designed to drive traffic to the-wave.org.uk where people can find out how to get involved in the march, as well as spread the word to friends and family.
The video site showcases people from all walks of life demonstrating their support for a safe climate future for all by submitting individual Mexican waves which then make up one eternal online wave of home made video clips.
The Co-operative, which is chartering trains and coaches from 21 locations across the UK to take thousands of its members and customers to London to take part in The Wave, has booked space on leading news websites such as the Guardian, The Times and Telegraph as well as networks including MSN, GDM and Context Web.
Banner advertisements for the video site will also be promoted across all coalition members’ websites from this week, including: Greenpeace, NUS, WWF and Christian Aid’s home pages.
With support from technical developers and creatives, Torchbox, the site is designed to engage people ahead of The Wave which has been positioned as a family friendly march with a carnival feel.
