The Well, Caerfai Organic Farm, Pembrokeshire

Sunday, May 27th, 2012

An early 19th century two storey stone cottage with outstanding views of the islands and St Brides Bay. Set within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, our 140 acre coastal farm is just half a mile from the unique city of St Davids. The farm’s organic enterprises include ‘green top’ milk, cheeses, potatoes, beef and cereals. We use our own organic unpasteurised milk to produce three types of cheese on the farm – Caerfai Cheddar, Caerfilly, and Caerfilly with Leek and Garlic. In high season we operate a small organic farm shop. Each of the four cottages has its own grounds, away from the present farm buildings. It’s only a 350 yard walk to beautiful Caerfai Bay – a sandy bathing cove with many colourful and fascinating rock pools. http://www.organicholidays.co.uk/at/3105.htm

Rocombe Valley Retreat Shepherds Hut, Devon

Sunday, March 4th, 2012

The shepherds hut is set in an idyllic countryside location beside a small stream on our 85 acre organic farm in the scenic Rocombe Valley. Wake up to the sound of the countryside on this small peaceful site, look out of your window and see up the valley and watch the wildlife playing in the fields. We can supply meat for your barbecues, vegetables and eggs for your stay, and when available meat to take home. Discover the natural wonders in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the valley and surrounding hills have a network of lanes and tracks making it ideal countryside for walking and mountain biking. Springfields Farm is just a couple of miles from the sea, with beautiful coastal walks and quiet sheltered beaches. As it suggests Springfields was named due to the many natural springs in the area. This has enabled us to create three natural spring fed ponds set in two acres which has become a natural haven for many bird species including Kingfishers, Canada Geese who breed on the island on the largest pond, a variety of wild duck species and the greater horseshoe bat. A survey by the RSPB recorded the presence of bullfinch, buzzard, dunnock, green woodpecker, lesser and greater spotted woodpeckers, house martin, house sparrow, linnet, mistle thrush, skylark, song thrush, sparrowhawk, spotted flycatcher, stock dove, swallow, tawny owls, yellowhammer, barn owl. The ponds are stocked with coarse fish for anyone wanting to fish the pond [environment agency fishing license required]. In the surrounding farmland are the shy Roe deer with a large population of rabbits, badgers and foxes. http://www.organicholidays.co.uk/at/3065.htm
