Paper of the Month

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

We at Eco Print would like to inform you of our
‘Paper of the Month’.

We have just started printing on Straw
Paper
made
from post consumer waste and straw!
The straw is embedded in the paper which gives a great natural look
and feel. We only use biodegradable inks anyway so any printing done
on this paper or card is 100%
eco-friendly
.
The Straw Paper
is ideal for Riding Stables, Farmers’ Markets, Farm shops and any
other rural concern. This paper also looks great
for special occasions, weddings, birth celebrations,

as well as offering something different for everyday stationary.

Along with our more exotic range we print on ’standard’
white cards and papers that are also 100% recycled too!

Our
Eco Policy is Reduce, Reuse and
Recycle
and
this should not mean compromising on quality, or for that matter
costing the earth! Eco Print handles all jobs, digital and litho,
specializing in short and medium size print runs. We even have an
experienced graphic designer on board if extra help is needed.

Like
our printing process, every member of the Eco Print team is free from
artificial colours and preservatives and happy to offer friendly
helpful advice. We are an approachable, locally based company, big
enough to cope but small enough to care.

more information on us and our range of papers and cards, check out

Welcome To Eco Print

Friday, March 13th, 2009

We at Eco Print would like to introduce ourselves as new members of
Ethical Junction. We are a 100% environmentally friendly alternative to
traditional printing methods using only  recycled paper and card. Our
energy efficient digital printer uses ink derived from organic, as
opposed to chemical polymers, and at the end of its use will be broken
down and recycled. Our litho printer uses a plate-making process that
is totally chemical free.

The Eco Print shop opened in October 2007 and was fitted out using wood from locally-managed woodland or woodland approved by the FSC! We believe ourselves to be truly friendly to the environment, ensuring that the phone company we use is the ‘greenest’ we can find, one that produces its own electricity and offsets its carbon footprint. We also bank ethically with the Co-Operative Bank.

As well as our quality ‘white’ recycled papers we offer an exciting range of recycled specialist papers and cards,  including ones made from Rhino Poo, Elephant Poo, sourced from UK Safari Parks, Beer Barrel Dregs, Marshland, Straw, Hay, Grass, Shredded Banknotes, Coffee, Bananas and even Wild Seed Paper that when planted grows Wild Flowers or Lavender! We think these are great examples of how to use resources that are often just thrown away.

Our Eco Policy is  Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and this should not mean compromising on quality, or for that matter costing the earth! Eco Print handles all jobs, digital and litho, specializing in short and medium size print runs. We even have an experienced graphic designer on board if extra help is needed.

Like our printing process, every member of the Eco Print team is free from artificial colours and preservatives and happy to offer friendly helpful advice. We are an approachable, locally based company, big enough to cope but small enough to care.

Eco Hotels of the World

Friday, November 28th, 2008

“Eco Hotels of the World” book recently launched on Amazon  – guiding all holiday makers to the pleasures of guilt-free responsible travel

From business trips to family holidays, camping to luxury spas, travel is an integral part of today’s society, but with green and environmental issues surrounding responsible travel so much higher on the agenda, what on earth should we do to keep our travel as ethical and sustainable as possible?  How can we feel the pleasure of holidaying without the stab of guilt that often accompanies it?

Help is now at hand – from the creators of independently researched and certified website www.ecohotelsoftheworld.com comes their first comprehensive, “greenly” produced book “Eco Hotels of The World” – available online from Amazon from today, 10th November. The guide, printed on FSC sustainable paper and with the carbon footprint offset with Blue Ventures Carbon Offset, proves without a doubt that self-indulgence can co-exist with a clear conscience.

Helping all of us to get away from guilt whatever our holiday or travel pleasure, Eco Hotels of the World lists 87 green holiday venues around the globe, rating them in five individual sections from one to five green stars: Energy, Water, Disposal, Eco-Active and Protection.

“The book is the culmination of our work collecting and rating green establishments, and has been produced entirely independently without taking money from the listed properties, ensuring complete honesty and impartiality from our reviewers to give the public a genuine appraisal of the venues and their claims and qualities,” says the book’s author Alex Conti.

In the book you will find destinations including safari parks, island dwellings and even beaches in Alaska, and is intended for use by eco-warriors and eco-wonderers alike. Whatever your green credentials, the guide makes being green easy and fun. The book contains 600 full colour images, detailed information, honest reviews and an Eco Tips section.

Website venture ecohotelsoftheworld.com started with a handful of volunteers less than a year ago and has proved so successful after widespread online visibility that the book was created.

The reviews are compiled by a team of editors who research the properties and score them using a strict vetting procedure. They also rely upon volunteers feeding back from around the globe on their genuine travels and personal impressions of the eco hotels they have visited.

Timeout says of the website “Now there’s no excuse: plan your holidays with an eco-conscience this season,” and Panorama has said it is an important “point of reference for travellers all over the world.”

The book is available from now at Amazon at the discounted price of £9.20 to coincide with its launch (usual price £13.95).

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

The date for this year is Sunday 5 October from 10am – 5pm. in the Market Hall, Abergavenny. We have backing from Fairtrade Wales as well as local businesses and Abergavenny Council. There will be plenty of local and regional press coverage as well as BBC Wales.

Last year saw a huge attendance and we will increase this year. Stalls last year included – Love Zimbabwe, Goodies from the Gambia, Bag- Age, Bryn – y – Cwm project, Smouldering Sage,Biltong 2 U,Tropical Forest, Fairtrade Abergavenny & Crickhowell, Tools for self reliance, VSO, etc.

We also had fantastic catering from Scrumptious catering and Taste Zimbabwe. We will be having the Fairtrade fashion show again and the drumming workshop from Dave Roberts. Also, hopefully the amazing Chrys Blanchard and Abercapella. We have a school group performing African Dance and hope to be bringing over from Zimbabwe Sam Mtukudzi son of Oliver (Tuku) the most well known Zimbabwean artiste.

There will be a childrens area this year with face painting and a bouncy castle. Music and entertainment will be going on all day and there will be lots more to announce as we get nearer to the date. I realise that it is still relatively early, but it would help us enourmously if those who are interested in taking a stall this year could let me know as soon as possible. Looking forward to seeing you all in October.

Kind Regards,
David and Martha Holman.
