Conceived at the Yoga Centre in Edinburgh, ecoYoga Ltd has been providing their specifically designed Jute and Natural Rubber mats since 2003.
We stepped back and off our yoga mats to begin the research in 1997 motivated by our awareness that yoga was becoming an ever increasing practice worldwide. Most students acquire a mat to accompany them on their journey and it seemed inappropriate to us that these mats be made of an oil-based plastic (PVC).
The original ecoYoga mat in concept & aesthetic has pioneered an incredible shift in consumerism. Yoga is an ancient practice fully integrated into modern life and business globally. Retailers of yoga mats, even if unaware of basic yoga principles, are faced with the reality that the demand for an environmental mat is stronger than ever. Through our commitment to sustainable 100% plant-based ingredients we believe the ecoYoga mat is currently the most effective mat for ones practice and most sound ecologically. Synthetic mats made from alternative plastics to PVC and made in the Far East are now available. We continue to manufacture in the UK providing mats in 4 colours including our unique colourfree.
