Exposure Surveying Ltd are independent building diagnostic consultants, undertaking investigations into the causes of rising damp, penetrating damp, condensation, dry rot, wet rots, death watch beetle and woodworm in historic buildings, private homes and commercial premises that follow conservation principles.
Our services include, timber condition assessments utilising non-destructive ultrasonic and microdrill investigations and strength grading of structural timbers, investigations into the causes of dampness within buildings and environmental monitoring. It is our mission to provide clients with an alternative to chemical treatment companies when dealing with building defects. We investigate the causes of the defects and offer an holistic approach to their remedy that is science based, sustainable, environmentally responsible, promoting the long term health of the building and its occupants.
If we can encourage clients and anyone else who is willing to listen, that the causes of timber decay and damp related defects can be successfully resolved without the need for chemical treatments to be introduced into their home or place of work, we will have succeeded.

The principles which guide Exposure Surveying have been collected since my childhood, redefined through my education and practised in relationships and business activities.

We are passionate about conserving both the built and natural environment, which are so entwined in the essence of our daily life.
In order to conserve often historic material, we accept that it is sometimes necessary for the targeted use of biocides and fungicides, however, we vociferously campaign against the incautious use of chemicals in the building industry.
We promote the virtues of utilising tradition and sympathetic building materials and crafts to resolve building defects.
We believe our built heritage is one of the nations greatest assets, which should be protected for the enjoyment and eduction of future generations, which is why we are proud to play our little part in its conservation.
