Ethical and Environmental Policy

Here at Harriet Kelsall Jewellery Design, we are proud members of the council of responsible jewellery and devote a large amount of our time to the improvement of the ethical and environmental credentials of the jewellery industry as a whole. We hand make all our bespoke engagement rings, wedding rings and eternity rings and the designing and manufacturing is done in house in our local workshop by our own team of silver and goldsmiths, rather than cast abroad.

The diamonds that we source are always conflict free, and sourced from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations resolutions. This means that we won’t use any diamonds that haven’t been through the Kimberley Process.

We are one of the only few companies offering fairly traded metal sourced from artisan miners and we always offer our customers that option as a matter of course. We are also heavily involved in the UK launch of certified fair trade gold next year.

Harriet Kelsall and her team actively seek to reduce the environmental impact of our jewellery manufacture by recycling materials where we can and reusing old diamonds and gemstones if at all possible. When sourcing new gemstones, we only purchase from a small group of known legitimate sources where the ethical credentials are secure.

We have a dedicated senior designer who specialises in the ethical aspects of jewellery and our policy is to openly and honestly discuss the pros and cons with all our customers to help them make their own informed decisions about their purchases.
