Jersey Pearl
Jersey Pearl is a third generation family business that for 25 years has managed the UK’s largest pearl showroom. We source our pearls directly from our farmers, ensuring we can offer the best quality pearls at honest prices.
Pearl farmers make every effort to ensure the environment in which their pearls grow is pristine because pollution and indiscriminate farming methods upset pearl development, resulting in lower value pearls. The happy side effect of this is that pearl farms create unspoilt areas of outstanding biodiversity which is intrinsically protected by the value of the pearls growing in the farm. However climate change is a threat to pearl farming because rising sea temperatures and sea levels are making it harder to grow pearls. This is why we chose to become the first CarbonNeutral® pearl brand which means that we offset our carbon footprint by funding projects including hydro-electric plants in China and tree planting projects in Scandinavia.
As well as being CarbonNeutral®, we guarantee that all our pearls are real, have the highest level of lustre (or shininess) available and are never dyed allowing you to appreciate the wonderful natural colours in which pearls are born.

Ethical and Environmental Policy
Jersey Pearl is the first CabronNeutral® pearl brand. The CarbonNeutral® certification mark is awarded by The CarbonNeutral Company. It signifies that CO2 emissions from an activity, operation or – as in the case of Jersey Pearl – a product, have been measured and reduced to net zero through a recognised process. Our carbon footprint was measured by an independent science team. With The CarbonNeutral Company, we reduced CO2 by combining internal changes (i.e. reducing the CO2 emissions of our packaging and delivery), with external reductions (carbon offsetting). Offsetting means that we have purchased carbon credits through The CarbonNeutral Company – who have organised for every one tonne of CO2 to be ‘neutralised’ by one tonne saved somewhere else in the world by a climate friendly project. The projects that we have selected are from a portfolio of Verified Emissions Reductions (VERs) from 100% renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, hydro, biomass and the re-use of water products like biogas.
The prime cause of climate change is the build up of CO2 in the atmosphere. Climate change has been recognised by leaders of the pearl industry as a great threat to pearl farming. We therefore want to raise awareness of the issue of climate change and its impact on our industry by reducing the carbon footprint of our pearls to net zero.
Pearl farming and the environment
Industry leaders describe climate change as the greatest threat to pearl farming. The oysters that grow pearls are very sensitive creatures, just the slightest increase in temperature or level of pollution and they struggle to survive, not to mention make nice pearls. The pearl farmers who grow oysters go to great lengths to keep their pearl’s environment pristine, protecting it from obtrusive fishing practises and pollution. These efforts make pearl farms areas of outstanding natural beauty and incredible biodiversity. By protecting the pearl industry we will make sure that the great value pearl farming places on a clean, natural environment is maintained and the environment will benefit enormously.
