The Red Endangered Animal Connection Trust (REACT) is a UK based charity dedicated to connecting people to conservation projects and endangered animals. We want members of the public, students and companies to get involved in conservation, so we find the best opportunities for you to do that. We will only work with animals classified as ‘threatened’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (given rise to the ‘Red’ in REACT) is the most comprehensive and respected inventory of species at risk. This is why we do not work with dog or cat sanctuaries. We also choose to focus on iconic species, such as the orangutan or elephant, because they attract a lot of attention and protecting them ensures many other species are looked after. For example, an orangutan can need between 2,000 to 10,000 hectares of land – each! If we can protect orangutans, then we can also protect all the amphibians, mammals, birds, reptiles, plants and other species that require good habitat.
