The classes are aligned with the EYFS and are developmental yet fun. The company offers a dual income, ethical franchise opportunity to people interested in running the classes in designated territories around the country as well as being able to sell the clothes.

Ethical and Environmental Policy

Tatty Bumpkin has been named one of the UK’s top 100 ethical companies by New Consumer Magazine.

Originally launching an organic cotton range, the company was one of the first in the UK to start using a mix of bamboo and cotton in their clothes. Bamboo is used for two main reasons: it is the most sustainable plant on the planet and it has fantastic properties which make it feel amazing to wear. It is breathable and cool, naturally anti-bacterial and feels super soft against the skin.

All of our accessories are hand made by a women's fairtrade co-operative in Sri Lanka. The finish is more handmade than factory manufactured– because it is - the cotton is hand grown, hand dyed and hand woven

The factory cannot meet the stringent conditions required for official Fairtrade certification, similarly they can’t afford the pesticides used in traditional cotton farming.
In this situation, the products are made with organically grown cotton and use Fair Trade principles but do not carry any official certification. In our organic cotton production, factories in Turkey are used, and they are checked for fair labour practices and wages.

Furthermore Tatty Bumpkin actually sponsor a disabled sewing machine operator at the Sri Lankan factory helping her to support her own family.

Tatty Bumpkin were the first children’s brand in the UK to offer a carbon neutral range to further develop their ethical credentials. A number of the bestselling items in their current range have had their carbon emissions offset via the Kikonda Reforestation Project in Uganda. The project helps local land owners manage their forest in a sustainable way.

The training programme for the Tatty Bumpkin yoga inspired music and movement classes has been awarded an UnLtd Social Enterprise award for its socially responsible model and work with Fair trade co-operatives, communities and individuals in the UK and abroad. UnLtd is a charity who support social entrepreneurs - people with vision, drive, commitment and passion who want to change the world for the better.

All Tatty Bumpkin clothing is certified by SKAL which tests and verifies international organic farming standards. The toys and dolls are CE certified. Dyes and bamboo fibre are Ecotex standard, the world-wide scheme that assures the environmental safety of textiles and clothing.

Tatty Bumpkin is truly committed to making a difference for children all over the world.
