A Greener Festival Ltd

A Greener Festival was set up in 2006 to champion sustainable events and environmentally friendly music and arts festivals.

There are three co-founders, Claire O'Neill, Luke Westbury and Ben Challis as well a a team of volunteers who hep with the annual Greener Festival Awards scheme.

We facilitate the exchange of best practice through our website www.agreenerfestival.com and promote the annual Awards scheme for green festivals in association with the UK Festival Awards and Robertson Taylor insurance brokers, with whom we also endorse a discount event insurance scheme for green events.

Our other activities include the new cartoon character ECOGIRL (tm), The Great Big Green Ideas competition and a new educational DVD. In 2008 we launched a training and conference programe with Bucks New University for best green practices at events as well as conducting research into consumer's green attitudes.

We actively support Julies Bicycle, the UK’s cross music initiative on climate change and YOUROPE's Green n Clean initiative for European festivals.

Ethical and Environmental Policy

We try to maintain an ethical stance and there are certain industries (along with companies and organisations servicing those industries) we cannot deal with. We will not deal with those involved the production, sale or distribution of arms and ammunition. We will not deal with those who are involved in the exploitation of non-sustainable resources in forestry and/or in the agricultural, mining and fuel industries. We will not deal with those who exploit the individual and/or who do not respect those basic human rights enshrined in the European Convention for Human Rights. We support Fair Trade and an environmentally efficient approach. Let's all try and Make Poverty History.
