Bishopston Trading Company
Bishopston Trading Company was set up in 1985 to create employment in the South Indian village of K.V.Kuppam. In this partnership Bishopston would supply the designing and marketing skills and the capital investment in the form of advance payments and K.V.Kuppam the weaving and tailoring skills and the raw materials. We sell clothing for women and children made from Fairtrade certified organic cotton and have 5 shops in the West of England and 4 mail order catalogues a year. We have over 100 wholesale customers in Europe and around the world. We are members of BAFTS and IFAT and licencees of the Fairtrade Foundation.

Ethical PolicyOur organisation was set up with the sole purpose of creating fair employment in an impoverished area of rural South India. Every major decision we make is based on whether it is in the best interests of our producer partners in K.V.Kuppam. We are a Workers' Co-operative and all profits not needed to grow the business are donated to our charity The south Indian Rural Development Trust for the benefit of our producers' community. We are committed to using Fairtrade certified organic cotton As members of IFAT we are registered as a Fairtrade Organization.
