Brighton Peace and Environment Centre

The Brighton Peace and Environment Centre aims to raise awareness and understanding of social justice, peace, sustainable development and environmental protection matters by providing information, education and positive practical solutions to global problems.

As an Education Centre, we are primarily an information resource service with a focus on peace and environmental issues. Development education aims to raise awareness and understanding of how global issues affect the everyday lives of individuals, communities and societies and how all of us can and do influence the global.

We work with community groups, schools, local businesses and the public.

We run courses for teachers about how to integrate global citizenship into the curriculum.

We have a comprehensive library with over 2000 books and teaching packs. This collection is supplemented by artefacts from Asia and Africa that teachers can use as visual aids in their lessons.

We educate children about sustainable development and the global dimension of their lives.

We provide a wide selection of information on local, national and international campaigns, projects and organisations.

We organise regular open days, discussion evenings and workshops as part of our outreach programme.

We are a membership based organisation and rely on volunteers to do many of the daily tasks like opening the Centre, creating our newsletter and co-ordinating events. If you're interested in volunteering for BPEC please contact us.
