Ethical Policy

We firmly believe in trade not aid as we feel that working for a living provides the workers not just with a means of supporting a family but with pride and dignity, we only purchase from suppliers that have firm ethical practices, all 3rd world suppliers are BAFTS or IFAT registered, providing consistant employment for at least the minimum wage but often above the minimum and providing extra support such as medical facilities for workers and their families, schooling for children, clean comfortable working conditions, sick pay ect.. At the same time we seek companies that use AZO free dyes, natural fibres, recycle fabrics (juice cartons & aluminium), fast growing plants for paper products and managed fast growing & sustainable wood for the wooden products and encourage artisan skills, whilst teaching why and how to protect the planet and the workers health to their employees. Our Baby gifts are packed in either reusable eco firendly fair trade hand made boxes or hand made calico bags. Other companies we use are British and have items either made in the Uk or made in the EU that are made from certified organic cotton (mostly fair trade), hemp or bamboo. We use recycled packaging & envelopes and recycle as much packaging as possible and are currently looking for lightweight waterproof packaging for larger parcels. Currently we operate from home and use Eco tricity as our electricity supplier but are looking to build our own eco home with separate storage and office for the business, all sustainble of course. We attend various fashion shows promoting fair trade and other events such as the Green Fair in Ipswich. We try to provide information about the companies we use and why on our web site as well as information on the benefits of organic cotton, hemp, bamboo and fair trade. We print all invoices ect on recycled paper, and catalogues are printed on recycled paper using vegetable inks, We are also in the process of setting up our own fair trade clothing label in Nepal
