Celtic Knot - Solicitors and Social Workers
Celtic Knot aims to be a niche business operating at the interface of social work and law, providing services drawing on both professions. We provide legal advice, alternative dispute resolution and training on any aspect of social welfare, public and human rights law. Celtic Knot aims to deliver our services in ways that demonstrate our respect for human rights and justice, minimise our ecological footprint, and draw on the high professional standards of both professions. Celtic Knot is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority RSP 443754. Its social workers are registered with the General Social Care Council.

Ethical and Environmental Policy
Our full Ethical Statement is available on our website at http://www.celticknot.org.uk/ethical.html with hyperlinks which expand on the information. It is also summarised below.
We are particularly pleased to have achieved the following: - In an area of work that traditionally uses a lot of paper, we have generated over 2500 electronic files of some description, but converted less than 50 of them into paper form. - We have reached agreement with fellow Ethical Junction member One World is Enough (www.one-world-is-enough.net), the owners of our logo, which includes a donation for the benefit of orphans in Nepal with whom they work. - We have sponsored and will be delivering a conference and training event on promoting human rights, for the British Association of Social Workers. - We have developed a working relationship with Birmingham Friends of the Earth (www.birminghamfoe.org.uk) including using their facilities as a venue of choice. In summary, our ethical commitments emphasise:
Sustainability and the environment We want to minimise our ecological footprint. We are committed to doing this through our work practices and through our choice of suppliers. We aim to operate a virtual business. We have no dedicated offices, saving land use and encouraging the sharing of resources. We aim to reduce our consumption of the earth's resources, in particular paper and energy.
Rights and Justice Celtic Knot, in its own methods of working, and in the outcomes it seeks to achieve for its clients, strives to promote human rights. We will avoid discriminatory practices, seek to challenge such practices when experienced by our clients, and use anti-discriminatory principles to influence our choice of suppliers. We are committed to Fair Trade products where appropriate.
Professional Standards Celtic Knot is committed to high standards of confidentiality, equality, satisfaction and security. Above and beyond the standards of the Solicitors' Code of Conduct 2007 and the GSCC Codes of Practice, we have committed to the Code of Ethics of the British Association of Social Workers.
