Ecogear
Ecogear is a manufacturer and distributor of environmentally friendly fashion. Based in Toronto Canada, our fabrics contain preconsumer cotton clippings from both North American and European t shirt factories.
Our corporate mission as a green for profit company is to use our resources to support environmental groups or other green NGOs in their struggles to keep this earth clean and green.
Our sales and distribution presently covers Canada and the USA. Distribution to retailers is all handled out of Toronto. Bulk orders are shipped directly from El Salvador. Other territories will be added as suitable distributors as located. Ethical Policy
As a manufacturer in a dirty industry, our lofty goal is to become the standard for what should be done in the textile industry with careful thought to what impacts we have on people,planet and animals in our manufacturing process.
People - that our workers whether part of our team or working with contractors be paid a wage that will allow them to sustain a decent living. - that they are not exposed to any health or medical risks in working with our products - that the end product,when bought and used, do not expose our consumers to any hazardous chemicals, even if the chemicals are only suspected of being detrimental to human health and wellness.
Planet - part of our proceeds will go to support environmental groups and other non profit organisations in their struggles against big corporations and governments reckless destruction of the environment and general disregard for the peoples that are affected by the destruction of the environment. This is done partially as a member of 1%fortheplanet. On a direct basisi, we fundraise with direct involvements with key groups/organisations.
The standards we have set for our product and its processes demand that we use the most ecologically friendly products available. This includes our inks on the t shirt,the hangtag right down to using a big enough safety pin that has a higher chance of being reused, to attach the hang tag.
Animals - these are the core reasons for our support of environmental groups and North American zoos. From our association with small groups such as woodstockfas.org to bigger groups like cpaws.org.
