ethicalonestopshop.com was launched in August 2005 as an online ethical shopping centre featuring a large number of retailers and covering a wide range of departments and products. Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for you the customer to find ethical companies and products… and for them to find you. By putting a large number of retailers under one roof we are creating a virtual ethical shopping centre. We’ve done all the research for you and provide a wide range of ethical,natural products in one shop. Currently stocking over 9000 products. Shopping ethically is now easier… and hassle-free!
Ethical and Environmental Policy
We believe that all economic activity should be politically, socially and environmentally responsible.
We believe in the promotion of changes in the structure of world trade, which work towards the building of a fair society in a sustainable, natural economy for the environment and our future.
All aspects of our business are guided by the principles of mutual respect, justice and equal partnership.
Our aims are to work in partnership to help:
- promote fair trade standards:
- ensuring that fair prices are paid to producer groups, to reflect the true costs of production. These would cover areas such as product development, transport, environmental protection and social development.
- ensuring individual workers receive fair wages.
- respecting traditional crafts and encouraging their development.
- developing long-term relationships with producers and suppliers.
- emphasising the empowerment of producers and non-exploitation of places and people.
- promote the use of natural and organic ingredients and materials and avoid potentially toxic chemicals; e.g. in use of skincare and cosmetic products.
- promote the use of products made from recycled materials and post-consumer waste.
- promote the use of 'good wood', i.e. well-managed forests, usually certified by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
- promote products and materials which are durable and re-usable.
- eliminate animal testing (None of the products on our site are tested on animals)
- promote products which do not contain animal by-products (All our products are suitable for vegetarians. Most are suitable for vegans. Each item will clearly state whether is it suitable for vegans and/or vegetarians).
- promote transparency of economic activity.
We understand that this is an ideal vision but strive for that ideal. Although few products are available which meet all of these criteria, we seek products, producers and suppliers moving in a positive direction in their chosen field and on a more holistic level.
Each merchant and product on our site has been carefully selected with the above criteria in mind.
Merchants and products are considered and selected based on the difference they make to us, and our world.
Each merchant featured on ethicalonestopshop.com has undergone an application and approval process. They have signed a contract agreeing to comply with our ethical policy in regard to their chosen fields and product listings.
