Ethical and Environmental Policy

We have registered as a Social Enterprise to enable us to be a business, but one that is socially and globally responsible. We have a committed management committee who meet to discuss the direction of Fair Grounds and make sure the ethical principles are kept accountable. We want to benefit everyone through what we do and make sure no-one is exploited in any way. The products we sell come from communities and co-operatives around the world who we know are getting a fair price for their work and are working to lift themselves out of poverty, through buying their products we are actively supporting them and through our resources based around the products we tell their stories to make everything transparent and keep people informed. Some of the products we sell do not make us any profit, it is simply an outlet for projects to use and we support them in this way. We aim to give consumers in this country the opportunity to buy high quality, ethical products easily as we know people are busy but given the choice to shop ethically would want to do it. We are also committed to putting the profit from the sales back into the business to allow us to carry out our educational awareness raising activities. We are passionate about raising awareness of global justice issues, particularly to young people in Bradford through workshops and schools work, and empowering and supporting people to make a positive difference in the world, in the different ways they can and feel able to. We are looking to work in partnership with other social organisations in Bradford to enable us to work together to carry out sucessful projects which really make a difference. We are open to suggestions of improvement and like to have a supportive and encouraging customer relationship.
