GoJute Ltd

Ethical and Environmental Policy

Our aim at GoJute is to maintain a business that can produce a high quality product but have a minimal impact on our environment and also provide a genuine opportunity for everyone involved in the whole process from start to finish to be paid and treated fairly. For this reason we make sure that all the companies we deal with provide safe workplaces for employees enjoying fair pay, the chance of advancement based on their ability and the right to belong to any legal group they want to.

And we do not do business with any supplier who employs under-age workers, who denies employees fair working hours or reasonable breaks and who coerces, threatens or intimidates them. It is no mean feat to monitor the operations of employers as far away as India, but we personally visit the suppliers we use and perform spot checks on how they treat their staff. Both our suppliers and we have applied for Fairtrade status and, although we respect and understand that cultural differences do exist, we believe that it is vital that a high standard of employee protection is maintained in any industry.
