Ethical and Environmental Policy
The Green Building Press is an independent publishing business run by people who are committed to sustainable living. It was established by Keith Hall, founder of the AECB. Its main aim is to deliver affordable and free information on green building to as wide an audience as possible. Its websites and publications help people create healthy and sustainable homes. The information is presented in a user-friendly manner to appeal to both professionals and the general public. The offices are in a building renovated to high environmental standards on a farm managed for timber and wildlife. The majority of its energy requirements are from renewable resources (wind, solar and water). The business has strict ethical, environmental and advertising policies. The office uses recycled or reclaimed paper products, minimises and recycles any waste, utilises second hand furniture and other office items. Products and services are only promoted where they offer clear environmental advantages. No products and services are promoted or adverts accepted for anything that includes ozone destroying gasses; are wasteful of energy or are high energy consumers; contain components that are considered harmful to human health, either by passive or active exposure; or are racist or sexist in nature. The product selection criteria used is from GreenPro, the online database, which forms the basis of the advertiser selection process.
