Green Nippers
Green Nippers specialise in organic, ethical and eczema friendly baby and children's clothes. We pride ourselves in only producing Soil Association certified baby and children’s clothes made from 100% organic cotton and chemical free dyes.
Our Debut Collection (0 to 12 months) consists of unique baby grows that are designed as ‘little outfits’, which are practical, comfortable and suitable for all year round. Our Junior Collection (0 to 5 years) includes smart and practical dresses, smock tops, t-shirts and leggings for girls. For the boys there are a wonderful range of t-shirts, stylish trousers and dungarees.
Our Junior Collection will be available from August 2011. Our ranges are made from an exceptionally high quality, from a selection of organic fabrics: organic cotton jersey, organic cotton waffle and organic cotton rib. We believe the quality and finish of our products is something that other baby and children’s wear brands cannot guarantee.
At Green Nippers we have proven that been organic does not mean that you have to limit the colours to bland and boring creams and browns. A bright and lively colour palette has been created for our Debut Collection and new Junior Collection, by using 100% natural and organic dyes that have a low-impact on the environment. All of our dyes are certified under the Global Organic Textiles Standard.

Ethical and Environmental Policy
Green Nippers believe it is very important how and where our clothes are made. Our products are ethically manufactured in a textile factory based in Istanbul in Turkey, who ethically produces high quality organic products.
Organic cotton production began in Turkey in the late 1980’s and Turkey remains one of the highest producers of organic cotton in the world today. However, many Turkish textile factories have lost the majority of their business during the past number of years due to large clothing companies who now choose to have their products manufactured in the Far East. The cost of production in the Far East is normally significantly lower due poorer working conditions and lower wages etc.
We have visited the bright, clean and spacious factory where the Green Nippers products are made. It was reassuring to see that all their employees had excellent working conditions, were paid fairly, were not over-worked and most importantly they was no child labour. The Fairtrade certification does not apply to the production of the Green Nippers products as Turkey is a not a developing country. Therefore the Green Nippers products, although ethically made, cannot carry the Fairtrade certification mark.
The reason why Green Nippers products are made from 100% organic cotton is so they are not harmful to the environment or the baby/child wearing them. Organic fabrics are sustainable and are grown naturally. Conventional cotton accounts for one quarter of global pesticide use; with alarming environmental and social consequences. Each year there are 20,000 deaths in developing countries from poisoning by agricultural pesticides used on crops. It is better for our carbon footprint to use organic cotton as organic cotton production emits around half the CO2 produced by conventional cotton production when using modern methods. Another reason Green Nippers chose to use organic cotton is because organic clothes are kinder to babies soft and pure skin, especially those suffering from eczema. This is because there are no harmful chemicals or pesticides in the fabric; therefore there is nothing to irritate the babies skin.
