GreenNet

Founded in 1986 GreenNet is a not-for-profit, ethical, collective ISP offering ethical broadband, email, low power computing, professional Drupal & website hosting, blogs, wiki's and more to private/home users, NGOs, charities & activists. It was set up in the late 80s as an effective and cheap way for environmental activists to communicate - a long time before email and dot coms had become household names.

Unlike many other internet service providers, GreenNet is geared to the needs of organisations, activists and people working for social change, but we also provide services for home users wanting an ethical alternative when using broadband, email or other web services.

At GreenNet staff members do not benefit from GreenNet's profits, or have any shares in GreenNet. GreenNet is owned by the GreenNet Educational Trust (GET), a registered charity (registered charity no. 1037080). Any profit made by GreenNet goes directly into GET towards the implementation of projects.

GreenNet is also a founding member of the APC (http://www.apc.org/), a global network of networks that work for peace, human rights and the environment through the use of ICTs.
