Greenshop

The Greenshop is one of the UK's leading environmental retailers. They have been providing sustainable and low impact products for almost 20 years and can proudly lay claim to being the largest supplier of natural paints in the UK. From their fabulous eco-building, designed by award-winning architects, Architype, they run their low energy retail shop and online store. They carefully research their products and make an ideal place to shop for making ethical choices. Their extensive range now encompasses: bodycare; books; cleaning; energy and recycling; homeware; gifts and of course paints.

As an integral member of the Greenshop Group they are at the forefront of the environmentally friendly business movement. Set up in the early 1990s to serve the fledgling green building products’ sector, as well as offering organic, local and natural products to the public the Greenshop Group is a forward thinking and highly successful group of companies.

Included in the Group are: Rainharvesting Systems Ltd, the UK leader in rainwater harvesting systems; Greenshop Solar, the experts for installing solar hot water systems in Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties; and Auro UK, who supply natural paints and finishes and who have been voted ‘Favourite Ethical (DIY) Product’ by readers of ‘Ethical Consumer’ Magazine.

Ethical Policy

We try our best to minimise the impact on the environment or its people. We encourage our staff of environmental awareness and to think things through before using any wasteful resources. Bodycare, cosmetics and household products are all cruelty-free and to be at least one or more of the following - organic, local, vegetarian, vegan or fairly traded. We try to promote a "green as possible" way of anything involved with our business. We encourage and sell energy-saving products in order to minimise the wasteful impact. We encourage activities which involves our business to use the minimum of any resources. We endeavour to meet or exceed all applicable environmental and safety regulatory requirements. To recycle as much as feasible of any packaging within our business, where this is not possible, to ensure it is recycled appropriately off site. To use rainwater, for the low flush loos, car cleaning and watering of the plants both inside and outside of the premises. We have a grid connected Solar PV system reducing our electric energy requirements. To encourage staff to promote and seek continuous improvements and methods for any part of the business. Use the compost bins for all food waste and green waste on site. We aim to operate in a way which balances running a successful business with the environmental impact of our actions. We continually strive to do the best we can sustainably at that time.
