Ethical and Environmental Policy

At Jungle Berry, we have spent time in the Brazilian Amazon observing the current conditions in which the artisans must sell their jewellery and crafts. Exploitative middlemen and difficult access to broader markets mean that skilled artisans face problems earning a living.
Receiving a fairer price for their beautiful crafts means they can have some of the many things consumers in the developed world take for granted, such as education for their children, decent working conditions and a stable income.

Jungle Berry Trading implements the ethics of Fair Trade in the following ways:

� The artisans who work with us receive realistic and fair prices that they themselves have set. We pay 50% in advance of all the orders so that our suppliers have sufficient funds to cover the raw materials and their needs during production. We ensure a continuity of orders so that the artisans who make the products we sell are sure of an income and are able to make future plans based on the financial security that Jungle Berry Trading provides.

� Unlike conventional importers, we establish long-term trading partnerships with our small group of producers based on reciprocal benefits and mutual respect. We work to delivery times decided on by the artisans, not us.

� We work closely with our producers, providing market and financial advice. We ensure that the quality of their work is of the highest degree.

� By bypassing exploitative middlemen and working directly with the artisans, costs are cut and a greater percentage of the retail price goes to them.
