Ethical Policy

Everything we do is about reducing the negative impact we have, environmentally and socially. We will only with organic and sustainable materials in our clothing. Our hangtags are 100% recycled and recyclable (no plastic or safety pins or string - a first we think). All our printed products are on 100% post consumer waste paper products. We recycle and compost around 90% of everything that goes through our hands and we are working on the rest. The business is home based, where we are on a green electricty tariff with Good Energy and investigating solar panels. We have an ethical procurement policy, aiming to buy local and green wherever possible. We are offsetting the transport emissions involved in getting organic cotton to the UK from Turkey. We will be selling at fairs this summer, transporting all the gear in a Prius. Our care labels encourage customers to wash at low temperatures and not to iron. We are investigating other low impact materials, such as hemp, bamboo and nettle for future clothing. We aim to have at least 1 fairtrade accredited product by the end of 2008, but only work with organisations that we feel consider the welfare of their staff and their wider impacts. We work on a triple bottom line basis, but our aim is to reduce the impacts of consumption through mainstreaming low impact products. And if we do make a profit, we want to share it with other organisations that have a positive impact, whether socially or environmentally or both. We are a female run (and gay owned) business that works with others based on their ability and ethics, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexuality or physical ability, in accordance with our equal opps policy.
