Marstan Press is an environmentally friendly printer and has been established for 55 years. Based in Bexleyheath (NW Kent), we offer full in-house facilities, including: Photography & Design, Litho and Digital Printing, Finishing, Direct Mail and Distribution.
We are very focused on reducing our impact on the environment, and in April 2007 were one of the first UK Printers to achieve FSC Certification. We are also working towards ISO 14001 accreditation. We have a range of environmental initiatives, which include:
- Using alcohol substitutes on press for lower VOC emissions
- Press plates are made using a 100% chemical and water free system (we were one of the first companies to install a 100% chemical free system)
- We use an Eco range of inks as they are made from 100% renewable resources and do not contain heavy metals
- We encourage the use of FSC Certified Stocks, and operate a company wide recycling and reuse policy
- We are replacing our vehicle fleet with Hybrid and Dual Fuel alternatives. We currently have 5 Toyota Prius and 1 LPG Converted Van on fleet, which give better fuel consumption and lower emissions.
- Our industry leading colour management system allows us to make-ready faster, reducing waste paper and ink.
- Our new studio workflow system has ink reduction technology, which reduces the amount of ink used, without a noticeable visual effect.
However, we appreciate quality and service are also important to our customers. In 2008 we installed Heidelberg's Image Control Colour Management System on our presses, which ensures all print is done inline with the ISO 12647-2 colour standard.
We have a team of account handlers who can look after your every need, whether it’s a quick price, a sample request or just some friendly advice. We have also recently launched our online personalised greeting card and gifts website called www.WinstonandHarry.com. We can offer a range of personalised items including mugs, calendars, t-shirts, greetings cards and magnets.
Ethical and Environmental Policy
Marstan Press is committed to promoting opportunity and diversity, and sees UK law as a bear minimum in regards to our responsibility to our staff, our customers and our local community. Our staff should be able to come to work without fear of discrimination, while the impact of our business on the local community is limited.
We believe that we should do all we can to reduce the environmental impact of our business, and this is reflected in the investments we make and procedures we operate. We encourage others to be green, and promote the use of FSC Certified papers. We have a strong preference for using local suppliers, as it helps reduce our carbon footprint. Suppliers must operate to similar Ethical Standards as we do.
