The Mexican Hammock Company was set up in 1983 with a small group of villagers in southern Mexico with the specific aim of developing a reliable, alternative source of income in an area of high unemployment and relative poverty. The company is mail order based and specialises in handwoven hammocks, hammock stands and hammock chairs as well as chimeneas, blankets, tiles, mirrors and other items.
