Organic-Ally
We promote the use of, and sell, reusable eco-friendly organic cotton hankies, table napkins, string bags, gift bags, wine gift bags to counter the excessive consumption of single-use plastic bags/paper tissue/kitchen towels/gift wrapping paper. We also stock hemp table napkins and other embroidered items to encourage people to choose a reusable alternative.
All products are ethically-sourced and, whenever possible, fairly-traded as well. We believe it is necessary to make lifestyle changes so that our habits do not cost the earth. We are here to help "dispense with disposables".
Ethical Policy
We only stock and promote the use of merchandise that do not have long-term harmful effects on the environment. We buy only from co-operatives which have the long-term interest and welfare of their workers/members at heart, and in particular, allow women and disadvantaged groups to work around their domestic needs or physical dis/abilities.
Our string bags are sourced from a company which pays fair wages and overtime, provides social security, paid holidays and essential facilities to their workers. (We plan to check these claims out when the business is able to support us travelling to these places to do so, or possibly send a trusted representative who is already local.)
In 2009 we started an embroidery service. We hope that being able to customize some of our existing products would encourage even more customers to switch to reusable alternatives.
Practically we do things like print on both sides of the paper, re-use packaging materials and work with suppliers to reduce packaging (the repackaging of cosmetic pads in a cloth bag is one such result) where possible and while we do not have an expensive or sleek corporate image, customers appreciate that we are not making them pay for non-essentials.
