Oxford Cycle Workshop Training

Oxford Cycle Workshop Training was born out of the realisation that there is a real community need for activities that engage our young people. We have long worked with young offenders, giving them cycle maintenance training for the simple reason that it engages them, with the added prospect of employment. Those who apply themselves are equipped with a skill that makes them employable within Oxford, in an industry that struggles to find experienced staff.

Our vision strecthes further than just the communities disengaged youth. As a community owned co-operative we very much want to reflect the needs of the community, and so we also offer courses designed to introduce the public to the kind of cycle maintenance skills that will be useful to them from day to day from mending punctures to replacing brake blocks, as well as on-road cycle training to empower people with confidence when cycling on Oxford's busy streets.

The relationship we are looking to have with the community doesn't stop with training though. As an organisation we are very active in creating accessable events to encourage people out on their bikes to enjoy riding socially. Our events have been growing in popularity and can easily attract one hundred cyclists from every walk of Oxford life.
