Radish

Radish is an indie green radical bookshop in a small urban community on the outskirts of Leeds. We are members of the Alliance of Radical Booksellers, an organisation which aims to promote literature and events which address issues of social justice, human rights and the environment. Radish does not only sell books, however, but a large range of fair trade gifts and clothes. We have our own online bookstore and a fair trade shop on eBay. Radish aims to contribute to a better Climate for Living and is involved in a number of local transition initiatives.

Ethical and Environmental Policy

Radish contributes to a better Climate for Living by:

1. Supporting authors and activists with an ethical message. We do this by organising events and book-signings, talks and pop-up bookshops. When asked, we bring stalls to local charities and organisations.
2. Developing a wide range of titles within our book offer dedicated to issues relating to climate change, sustainability, radical politics and transition initiatives.
3.Offering networking opportunities through links on the Radishweb. (see website)
4. Diversifying into fair trade and contributing to opportunities for developing communities to earn a living wage.
5. Offering local artists and writers the opportunity to showcase their talents by stocking a good range of locally printed books and cards.

Radish is managed on a job-share basis enabling two people to be in part-time work. We use energy saving measures wherever possible to reduce our environmental impact.
