Ethical Policy
Swallowtail Hill is owned and run by Christopher and Sarah Broadbent and is based at their home - on a small East Sussex Farm. Their lives and their business are entirely intertwined.
www.swallowtailhill.com is an online ethical store and was created out of a desire to produce a shopping experience which married conscience with convenience. Everything the site sells has to be from a verifiable sustainable source, recycled, fair trade, organic or a combination of all four. The company feels strongly that shopping ethically ought to be a pleasure.
The business and the farm is climate neutral as an operation. They use climate neutral suppliers wherever possible.
The farm itself has become a beacon for bio-diversity and is used as a demonstration site to show exactly what a landscape can become if managed for conservation – wild flower meadows, hedgerows bursting with life, ponds and reed beds, coppice woodland – all managed traditionally. Sarah and Christopher grow all their own vegetables on the farm and raise an increasing number of animals, some as pets and some for meat.
Swallowtail Hill constantly strives for new ways to reduce its impact on the environment and to encourage sustainability.
