YouGen
At YouGen we're big fans of renewable energy to heat and light our homes. However, as with most new technology, we know it can be difficult to find out what's best. It's not always possible to phone a friend and get a recommendation or find out whether a biomass boiler will heat your house more efficiently than an air source heat pump; or a wind turbine will generate more power than solar panels.
YouGen bring together people interested in renewable energy to provide the answers you need. We're building a community where people can share their experiences, recommend their suppliers and get advice from experts.
As well as accessing information about the various types of microgeneration, visitors can check which are suitable for their home and situation, and find tips about what to ask potential suppliers. They can also search for local suppliers of their chosen technology, and contact them through the site.
Our aim is to make it easy for people to choose the right form of microgeneration for their home and to find someone they trust to install it.
If you've got renewable energy installed already, you can help others by rating your supplier's service under our five categories.
If you're a supplier, why not add your company to the YouGen site, and ask your customers to rate your service where everyone can see it.
Ethical Policy
YouGen exists to encourage and facilitate the uptake of microgeneration , particularly in the domestic market. It's ultimate aim is to contribute to a lower carbon UK.
In the way it does business it always aims:
- to minimise its environmental impact (measuring and monitoring its carbon footprint to ensure this is the case)
- to use suppliers who are local and have a similar ethical and environmental approach wherever possible
- to be open and transparent
- to be an equal opportunities organisation
- to ensure all its services are accessible to all
- to do business in a manner that is fair, responsible and sustainable
- to be a fair and responsible employer (when it gets to the stage where it is big enough to employ anyone)
